Microsoft has appointed Donna Hindson as Trade Marketing Director for the UK’s Advertising & Online (A&O) division, filling the role vacated by Nickie Smith’s move to Microsoft Advertising International.
Hindson will be in charge of helping to boost revenue, grow market share, and raise awareness of the breadth of the Microsoft Advertising portfolio – which includes MSN, Windows Live, XBOX Live, Windows Phone and Bing Search, as well as global technology platforms and tools such as Microsoft Media Network and Microsoft Advertising Real-Time Exchange.
Based in the company’s London office, Hindson reports directly to Andy Hart, General Manager of Microsoft Advertising & Online UK. She joins Microsoft from the BBC where she was Head of Marketing Operations and Partnerships for the last two years. She has also worked in several previous roles at Microsoft across three different continents, including Director of Partner Marketing for MSN EMEA (2008-2009), Chief of Staff for MSN International (2006-2008) and Regional Marketing Manager Asia Region.
With a background in global management, marketing communications, business development and leadership, Hindson promises to bring to Microsoft a wealth of valuable experience in international marketing and developing large digital brands.
“After a rewarding two years at the BBC, I’m thrilled to be back working with Microsoft,” says Hindson. “I’m looking forward to driving awareness and education of our leading creative and technology story. My goal will be to develop closer relationships with our customers and clients, helping to bring their campaigns to life through digital story telling. 2011 saw the launch of some fantastic partnerships (for example, between Nokia and Windows Phone) and products, including innovative new advertising formats and a revitalised MSN, and I’m confident 2012 will see this momentum build even further. This is an exciting time to join Microsoft Advertising, and I welcome chapter two of my Microsoft story!”
